Voluntary Social Welfare Agency

Social Alliance for Human Activation Rehabilitation & Ability

SAHARA was established in 1996 with the aim to provide the rehabilitation facilities to the physically disabled. Dera Ismail Khan is lacking the physiotherapy facilities and the nearest rehabilitation facility is more than 300 km away from it. Inadequate financial resources and knowledge resulted in many correctable disabilities into a permanent deformity. This was best felt by a disable founder member and with coordination of other fellows established this organization and later on in July 1997 its functional physiotherapy center was inaugurated. SAHARA is registered under the Social Welfare Ordinance 1961 with the NWFP Social Welfare Department. It has over 150 members, four officials, a Technical Coordinator and five executive members. Commissioner, D.I.Khan Division is the patron-in-Chief.
